Whilst studying in music college, I wanted to create several projects with different styles of music I liked. There’s guitar rock, piano modern jazz, electronic experimental music, and classical piano music. It would take a lot of time and effort, the result would be some pretty standard projects. One day it occurred to me to just mix all the types of music I like in one project, thus making my sound unusual and more unique.
The resulting sound combines fuzzy rock guitars, piercing leads and fat basses, ambient synths and chaotic structures, classical piano and modern jazz harmonies inspired by the music of Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock.
Lyrics are often written with a haze of half-dreamed images from the unconscious, bringing to the surface experienced emotions, premonitions and unspoken words.
In trying to find my own unique singing voice, I’ve found that singing in a wide range (with lots of high notes in a clear voice) suits me best. I’ve drawn inspiration from Tom Chaplin, Conor Mason and Brian Molko.
